I currently have 7600 miles/6 months on the oil in my 2008 Corolla. It is a mix of Mobil 1 (3.5 qts. 0w20 and 1 qt. 0w30, both are the older SL version). I have ran synthetic in this car for the last 4 oil changes, gradually raising the OCI from 5K to the current 7.5K. The engine appears spotlessly clean. I have a Pureone 4477 (slightly oversized) on the motor.
I plan to take this car off the road at the end of this month (too many cars insured)
for a few months. I am taking it on a trip (NY to Tennessee and back) in the mean time.
I plan on changing the oil and filter for the lay-up.
I'm looking for opinions on whether I should change it before the trip and lay it up with approx. 2500 miles on the oil OR run the current fill to Tennessee and back (which would put the OCI close to or over 10K (this would be the longest OCI ever, in any vehicle, for me...BITOG has made me brave).
The current oil still looks golden colored and 'feels' good (I know this means little) and the SL version of Mobil 1 0w20 was known to be long drain capable.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
