Opinions of 1999 era 5.7L Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon?

When you say good towing ability, what do you mean? What are you towing and where?

A 255hp/335 ft-lb engine with a 4 speed would not be on my list. My 301 hp/330 tq GX with a 6 speed has troubles with my travel trailer.

The specs seem to suggest this can tow 7000 pounds.

I don't have anything specific in mind, and certainly nothing close to 7000 pounds. Maybe a light landscaping trailer, small moving trailer, or just pulling shrubbery out of the ground or retrieving a stuck car or truck, etc. Having some competent 4x4 towing ability is a plus.

I'm really just wanting feedback on the pros and cons of this era for rugged reliability, etc. The engine, transmission, build materials, etc.
