Big news out of Ontario today with the announcement of up to 4,800MW of additional capacity at the Bruce site!

Todd Smith, our Energy Minister, also noted that the plan is to refurbish Pickering B as well.

The addition to the Bruce site will make Bruce the largest thermal generating station in the world by a rather large margin with a total capacity of over 11,000MWe.

There are certainly vibes of the former Ontario Hydro flowing from this announcement with the massive expansion of Ontario's nuclear fleet, which was the cornerstone of the organizations growth plans prior to being decimated by Maurice Strong during the Ray Days of the 90's, with its emaciated and fractured husk broken up by Mike Harris.

Nice! We've (The US) got 2 reactors coming online in Georgia at Vogtle, although unit three has been delayed again due to an issue with a hydrogen seal somewhere. Unit 4 should be online by next March they've said

Darlington Unit 3 is back from refurb 6 months early. They currently have it at 178MW, I believe it's capped at about 300 currently due to the CNSC hold on the unit. This is the first Darlington unit to get the control systems upgrade, will be interesting to see what the implications of that going forward are.
