One hand driving

My father in law 80 years old had a severe hand injury on his dominate left hand.

Can you drive with one hand okay especially older and spending last 70 years driving with two?. He drove cars at 10.

haven’t driven for 70 years but generally drive with my non-dominant hand. got into the habit due to stick shift.

Like everything else, just have to try, under safe conditions, and see how it goes.

Of course you CAN do it. But you will absolutely suffer in an emergency situation.

I don't think I have driven with both hands other than sharp turn arounds my entire life. Never an accident where I was at fault.

In my younger days I could juggle a soft drink, burger, fries, and still work the manual stick shift all while steering with my knee and waving to the cuties with my left hand. It can be done... but should it?

I have only been driving for 55 years but most of them have been with a stick. The driving part is not a problem its the slow speed maneuvers. Trying to make a sharp or U turn or even pulling in a tight parking space. I know a man in his 80's that had a stroke that left his arm almost useless and he was able to get an aid put on his steering wheel. He still drives an F350 Duelly and does not appear to have any problems.

I see many people drive-handed most of the time. They have a condition that won't let them put down their phones.

One-armed people can legally drive vehicles with automatic transmissions. They make cars with foot steering for people without arms or hands, for example, the victims of birth defects or accidents. I once had a neighbor who was a former Thalidomide baby. He drove a car.

I would take this seriously for everyone's safety. Doing a quick Google search shows that it is legal and doable, but special considerations need to be addressed.

I knew of a woman who drove with no arms. Parallel parked using her feet, ate sandwiches and smoked cigarettes all using nothing but her feet.
