Just picked up a 2004 Ford Focus ZTS (2.3L Duratec) with 123K on the clock. So far, I do not notice any leaks or consumption. After I drive it some more and notice it continues to use/burn no oil, I would like to do a once a year OCI.
The manual calls for 5w20 and recommends Motor Craft synthetic-blend with a 5K OCI. The car will be used for 90% city driving and short trips. The car will only see around 7K miles per year.
If I use a high quality synthetic oil, could I pull of a once a year OCI? Or would I be better off going with a conventional and following the 5K OCI? I would like to hear some thoughts.
Thanks guys!
