Hello, I rebuilt my front two brake calipers on my chevy k20 and i replaced both front brake hoses and one rear. I acquired this old bottle of open brake fluid. The bottle is metal and the cap was tight. I know brake fluid absorbs water and i was wondering if i can use this brake fluid or if i should just throw it out because it might have absorbed water? Thanks

Use fresh fluid indeed!

Brake fluid is cheap. Buy new stuff.

+1

Some places it can be disposed of in waste oil that is being properly disposed/recycled. Otherwise yes, hazardous waste turn in works, too.

Metal cans are better for longevity, but you'd still be better off buying a new bottle. Even the really really good expensive brake fluid is $10-15, but the cheap $5 quart at Walmart is just fine, too.

Some independent parts stores carry Castrol for $10/qt.
