Old B&S Vanguard-Change to Maxlife?

I have approx. 9 yr. old Briggs Vanguard single cylinder 14 HP on Dixon mower. Has had nothing but Havoline HD 30.

Starting to get some minor leaks. What do you guys think about maybe trying Valvoline Maxlife or Maxlife Syn. 10w30.The HD 30 is as thin a water after cutting grass.

You could run that vanguard right up to a 15w40 without issue. Especially in the LA heat.

I put a bottle of Maxlife 10W-40 in a 1967 Briggs & Stratton 3 horse HS and now it runs like it's a 6 horse.
