Hello my dear friends i have small question.

There is 2003 Engine that probably was running conventional oil for 86000Km ( thousand )
and my plan is to switch to full synthetic OIL ( i think Amsoil )
so would it be 100% safe i heard a loot in old cars its not good 2 do so it may start leaking and some other bad stuff.

or other way car was running Synthetic oil for long time and now i will switch to conventional.

Engine will work more quiet or Conv. or Syn. oil ?

i wanna switch to Synthetic... and do changes every 6-7Km.
( i know its a waste but i wanna be on safe side .. )

And what about automatic Transmission what oil its mazda 3 2004.
4 gears Triptronic Dexron V ? what i should use there

Thx for help, and sorry for my spelling mistakes and bad Englis im trying to improve it :)
Best Regards Kris

i cant edit my post so i will add what i found

Myth: Using Mobil 1 will void the warranty on my new car.
Reality:

"Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance will not void new car warranties, with the exception of the Mazda rotary engine (Mazda does not recommend any synthetic motor oil). Mobil 1 exceeds the API and ILSAC motor oil service requirements for all new vehicles, both import and domestic. If in doubt, always check your vehicle owner's manual or contact your vehicle's manufacturer."

so my car is mazda why they dont recommend motor oil

Some people here insist on using synthetic oil, but the reality is that it does not provide significant benefits to the average user unless they operate their vehicle in extreme climates or engage in track activity. Conventional oil works fine as long as you follow the drain intervals listed in your owner's manual.

The 4-speed auto uses Mazda M-V fluid.

so no point with Amsoil ? or maybe Amsoil is making a conventional oil as well ?

Ndx, there's really no need to start a new topic about this. You could have added this to your existing thread.

When you state "price is not a issue", people are going to suggest a syn, especially with your Canadian winters.

Could you get by with a conventional oil? Sure you can. But it's really up to you if you want to spend a little extra for a little extra protection with syn.

As I stated before, the Amsoil XL line is well suited for you.

To answer your original question, it will not hurt on "old" car. But a 2003 vehicle is not old anyway. And 86,000 km is certainly not high mileage.

Amsoil makes an excellent product. In addition to their full synthetic products they also make some Group III synthetic products which are less expensive but apparently perform well.

Amsoil is not the only game in town, but it is a good one.

Better cold properties during the Canadian winters.

How cold does it get in Canada?

Well, if it's anything like Michigan they can hit -20F and even further below.

Look....I know what you're insinuating. Dino could do the job. Yes it could.....but when someone indicates "price is not a issue", why NOT go syn in the cold extremes? Heck, spend about 11 bucks a quart on RLI for all I care.

so there will be no leaks or consumption ?
what about noise from engine with the AMsoil XL will it be louder or more quiet ?

There should be no leaks or random consumption. As for noise, I wouldn't imagine there being an increase or decrease in noise. I've personally never noticed a noise difference in any brand of oil I've used in my car, be it synthetic or conventional.

It depends where you are in Canada. It's a big place. Its like me asking what the temperature is going be tomorrow in the US (as if it's the same weather everywhere).

Western provinces : -20C to -45C is pretty common during the peak of winter out there and that's sometimes the high temp for the day. The OP is in southern Ontario and it doesn't get anywhere near that cold there. A few nights of zero F (minus 18C) is about it for that area. It gets far colder for far longer in MI/WI/MN/ND etc, than it does in southern Ontario.

The really simple question is, Does your car leak oil now? if your answer is yes then yes it will leak with a synthetic. If the answer is no then no it will not leak if you use a synthetic. At the OCI's you plan to use the Amsoil XL series of oil will be your best, from a cost standpoint. The ASL/ASM oils are a little more robust and will provide a very large safety margin in your length of service. Please don't use the SSO series of oil, you will make many of us cry if you drain it at 6 or 7k, in fact you could probably sell the used oil for $2 a qt.

Remember, he means kilometers not miles. So a 7000 KM OCI is just 4350 miles.

Ndx: I would recommend the Amsoil XL line for your Mazda 3, but up to at least 10,000 KM. I assume you will be going with 5w30. The Amsoil oil you need is XLF.
