You may recall from previous posts, my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan was using about 1/2 to 3/4 qt of oil in about 1200 miles (Havoline 5w20). I switched to Motorcraft 5w20, thinking this might help. With 2500 miles, I have used almost a full quart of oil, which comes out to about the same rate as Havoline usage. Is this something that I am going to have to live with or is there hope that I can reduce consumption by a different brand of oil? I was considering Mobil Clean 5000 or Castrol GTX as my next oil choice in hopes to alleviate this problem (which Dodge says is normal).
At this point, I would even consider a low cost synthetic and 7500 OCI's if this would solve the problem and be cost effective.
Any suggestions?
