Oil Storage question for the experts

I'm wondering whether it is a bad thing to store oil in a once opened container with a lid and use it later? Also, if this will have any negative impact on the oil itself?

For example, If I fill a 10 quart jug with 10 quarts of oil, use 5 and store the leftovers on a shelf with the cap on the jug until my next OC.

I have a way of getting Total dexos1 5w30 Full Synthetic for $7.02/gallon and need a bottle to store it in. I have found 2.5gal jugs that I could buy, but I'm not sure if the oil would be impacted.

As long as you have a tight cap to keep out dust and moisture you will be fine. The oil will be out of spec (meaning the industry has moved to SO or SP, from SN) before the oil might be unusable.

You will be fine with your method. Think of it this way, while you would not want to leave the oil open to air, every shop around that has a 55 gallon barrel opens and closes consistently.

Excellent, just wanted to double check. At the price of the oil, it will be hard to beat, just hope it is good stuff. If it is good, I will buy more jugs and go nuts.

It won't be a problem. I've used open oil that was a lot older than that.
I do try to keep my stash at a fairly constant temperature since I think the fluctuations have a negative effect.

A killer price on what should be a good oil.
Storing it as you plan to do will have no negative impact on the oil.
I'm sure that you'll go through ten quarts pretty quickly anyway.
