Hi,
I own a 2008 Nissan Versa.
I live in extremely hot desert climate.
I used to use mineral 20W50, but just recently switched to semi-synthetic 10W40.
Whenever i take oil from the dipstick and put it in a tissue and i sniff it, there is some sort of burning smell in the oil.
I thought it should go away after oil change. So after a recent oil change putting 10W40, the burning smell is still there on the new oil.
Driving style is very hard.
Just for a comparison, on my friends Yaris (2009), his oil was coffee colored (passed half of its life), yet it didnt smell burnt on the tissue.
He drives hard as well.
What could be the reason behind this.
Are my pistons filled with sludge?
Or they require some cooling by detergent additives?
