There is nothing really wrong with sniffing your dipstick!

I mean the transmission for burnt fluid you didn't think I meant......

Hahahaha, this is the funniest thing on here yet! But the truth is I have a hard time not getting oil on my face when I smell the oil everytime I pull the dipstick. I have a legitimate reason though, checking for gas smell. I'm having to rebuild an engine right now because excessive gas in the cylinders and in the oil destroyed the bearings and rings in 5000 miles(stupid carburetors). It makes you paranoid when something like that happens.

Mobil 1 smells great! I can sniff the stuff all night. Is the smell toxic.

OK...OK...I will reveal the secret. When you open a bottle of SLX you are not discerning the fragrance of a product of the tribologists art; what you are smelling, my friends, is a summer's evening standing on a wharf extending into the gently flowing Rhine somewhere south of Frankfurt; you are smelling the magic of schnitzel mit spätzle mixed with the fragrance of Edelweiss in a little chalet on the outskirts of Zurich; you are smelling the pines overlooking a gasthaus in the Black Forest AND you are smelling an Audi R8 flying down the Mulsanne Straight in the middle of a humid French night(why oh why did they have to put in that chicane?...oh, and ignore those Shell stickers on the R8s...must have run out of Castrol stickers) . THAT's what you are smelling...you do believe me don't you.

Well, you'll just have to trust me on this one. Oh, and it is definitely not toxic, just intoxicating.

I can't believe no one has commented on the days when THE racing oils were Castrol R and Oilzum Crystal. The castor-based smell is something unforgettable, and greatly missed.
everytime I see a Porsche 356 go by, I can still imagine a faint blue haze of "R".

I'm surprised you even had to ask...isn't that how everyone does it?

PS. Ya go through alot of Lederhosen that way! But it's either that or a trash can full of green tissues!
