Hey Fellars... I just requested the free oil sample kit from Blackstone. Is that what most of you guys use? I have a brabd new F150 with the 5.4l engine. I dropped the factory oil and filter at 501 miles and installed a Motorcraft FL820-S and Valvoline 5w-20. I am going to drop the oil and filter again at 1000 miles and install a new filter and Pennzoil 5w-20 of Mobil 1 0w-20 I have'nt decides yet (leaning towards the Pennzoil) I will submit an oil sample after I get 5000 miles on thiis truck. I may need help looking at the report as this will be my first one. This is a really informative site. Information overload at times but good non the less...

Blackstone is the first one I found, before I found this site actually. Liked what they have done so I have stayed with them. Pretty quick service for me having to send it almost completely across the country.

On a different note, last sample I did I marked the send more kits box. About a week later, a box arrived with 12 bottles in it!

Blackstone are very nice to you on the phone and give good service.I haven't used any others so I can only go by how they treated me with my oil reports and pumps things like that.

Does Blackstone supply you with a pump or do you have to buy one? Or do you just drain the oil and stick a cup under it and sample that way?

If you want a sample pump you have to buy it. Most people just get their sample by collecting it while the oil is draining though.

Ok Thanks, thats sound like the same setup we use at work to pull oil samples on Heavy Equipment. The bottle screws onto the pump and the tubing goes down the dipstick tube.
