I was using my Amzoil sample pump to take an oil sample for analysis, when it occured to me that contaminants, as well as oil add-packs, are measured in PPM. It wouldn't take much of any foreign substance to make a difference in the analysis.
So I have been using acetone to rinse out the tube and pump, and wonder if that would leave anything to screw up the analysis. If so what would be best? Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, or???

No not really. Acetone is an organic compound like oil, the spectrographic analysis isn't looking for carbon, hydrogen or oxygen.

Just let everything dry. Acetone has a high vapor pressure and will evaporate quickly.

Thank you; since I don't see you digging up a dozen or so threads can I assume this is a first?😎
