Oil recommendations for 07 Chevy suburban

Mobil 1 high mileage. Rumored to clean very well. And since Walmart has it pretty cheap, no reason to use anything else. The rebate doesn’t hurt either

I'd do a shorter run on some cheap oil first, maybe with a little MMO near the end of the run.

Maxlife 5/10w30 @ 5K intervals unless it gets a lot of pure city driving.

Yes, sadly they have it. I remember talking to a GM TECH a few years ago who was my side mechanic and he told me to avoid them at all cost

My vote would be to use a 5w30 Dexos Rated oil. Not sure if the AFM has been deactivated yet but if it hasn’t you might want to do it. Lastly if you really like the Burb you can have the AFM repair done by replacing all the lifters and maybe the cam. Since you probably got a good auction price, you could just continue the way it is and change the oil regularity, at say 5,000 miles. Good luck.

Don't run high mileage oil unless you're seeing oil loss through leaks or burning it, and with recent generation engines, it's more about leaks than burning. Putting seal sweller oil in an engine that doesn't need the seals swollen does nothing good. Your engine won't implode, but your seals will wear out faster.

I've heard countless times on this board that it's 'safe' to run HM oil from new. I believe I've seen that statement on oil manufacturer's websites as well. Don't get me wrong, what you're saying makes sense and I'd felt the same way before, too "If it aint broke don't fix it".
