Hoping to get a 2014 mazda 3 with 2.5L skyactiv engine soon.. afaik the 2.5 skyactiv engine requires 0w20.. What would be a good oil recommendation for this engine?

Thanks!

my fam and i usually cross the border on the weekend so grabbing oil in Walmart USA won't be really a problem

I guess Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 and Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 are both the top choices for the sky activ engine?

Both the Mobil 1 and pennzoil exceeds the requirements of mazda?

I personally think Pennzoil Ultra 5W-20 is the best choice but I get why some wouldn't want to use it.

I think if the engine requires 0w20, you better stick with that at least during the warranty period. TGMO is another great oil. You can buy that in Canada for about $25/5L jug.

Isn't bad advice for a direct-injection engine? Supposedly they run hot & leave behind deposits

Is there really a "bad" 0W-20 motor oil with the starburst and API donut? Heck - Mag1 would probably be fine for someone on a budget.

When your in the US go to the nearest Mazda dealership and pick up as much Mazda with Moly 0w20 that you can find.
221VI with over 600ppm of moly and 40cst of 35, ILSAC GF5 SN. You can't go wrong and it's specced for skyactiv.
TGMO 0w20 will serve you just as well to and is available in Canada for quite cheap. Bring a 5L jug to a Lexus dealership and they will charge about $4.90-$5 per litre to fill it.

Enjoy the car once you get it.

I have to double check my local dealership what kind of 0w20 they are using.. I might just get Mazda 0w20 with moly if the price is right at the dealership. If not.. i might just go with Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 or Pennzoil 0w20..

Between Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 and Pennzoil Platinum 0w20. which one would be better for the 2.5L skyactiv engine?

TGMO is like $6 something per liter here at my local toyota/lexus dealership here in Vancouver BC

Bingo.

My local dealership uses PetroCan 0w20 for their bulk oil.. I have my first oil change free so i just went ahead and let them put the PC 0w20...

Next oil change i might try to use TGMO 0w20
