Is the GTX blend in the silver bottle? If so, that is a great oil. I'm thinking 10w30 should be plenty thick enough for those engines.

yes its silver but i have a question in the USA is the bottle printed with the label or is it a sticker im worried about oils here to be not what they claim since havoline here comes in a golden bottle and all spanish label and castrol bottles dont even have the transparent side line to measure the oil level?
thanks for the help and suggestion golden rod .

None of the Castrol bottles should have stickers. They also don't have a sight window on the bottle either. Some guys here at BITOG complain about the Castrol bottles not having a sight window. I have never seen Havoline with a gold bottle, but Chevron uses a gold bottle for their high mileage oils. It sounds to me like you are worried about counterfit oil products, that to me sounds scary.

Darkjedi: I'd use any of the 10w30's or 10w40's with no hesitation. Just out of curiosity what are the prices of these oils in Guatemala?

Ok pbm the prices are (all in US$ all for a qt)
castrol gtx 3.80 castrol syntec blend 4.20
Maxlife 4.31
Mobil 5000 3.52 Mobil1 8.50
Shell helix plus 4.57
Chevron supreme 2.61 Delo400 3.00
Quaker 3.50
havoline 3.60

Hi there great forum !

What oil do you think is the best for this cars
the first one is a toyota starlet turbo with a 4EFTE 1.4L DOCH 16 VALVE engine (30Kmiles) it revs up to 7000rpm and bosts out 9psi

the other is a mazda Protege ES 94 1.8 SOCH 16VALVE it revs to 6000rpm 120Kmiles with hidraulic lash adjusters
I live in Guatemala (tropical weather ) the options here are this

Mobil 5000 10w30 10w40
Maxlife 10w40 only
Castrol GTX & blend 10w30 10w40
Chevron Supreme 10w30 10w40 or Delo 15w40 only
Shell Helix plus 15w50
Quaker 10w30 10w30 normal and blends
Havoline 10w30 & 10w40 (but in golden bottle , could it be fake)

Thank for your suggestions

Darkjedi: The best bargain of the group is the Chevron Supreme and that's what I'd use. It is very well regarded on this site. Good Luck.

Cool, didn't know the Starlet came with a turbo engine.
I would pick the best bargain (Chevron Supreme) for the Mazda.
If you can get your hands on a full synthetic oil, I would use that in the Toyota engine.
