oil ratings????

i bought havoline 5-30 and now have noticed its a gf-3 oil...i looked at the mobil 5000 and its rated gf-4...what does this mean...is the mobil better?Please someone explain all this oil mumbo jumbo before i lose my mind trying to figure what oil to buy.

It means that the Havoline is old stock. If you're going to buy a conventional oil, just buy whatever name-brand is on sale in your viscosity. Newer oil is generally better, but the jump from GF-3 to GF-4 wasn't huge. Other than that, there's not that much difference between brands. They're all made to meet the same standard.
