Oil Pressure on a GM 5.3 V8

Does anyone pay attention to there oil pressure at idle when the engine is up to full operating temp (around 210 on the gauge?) If im stopped and the engine is warm, my pressure drops right below 40. I don't remember this happening in my past trucks, which mine is an 2004 GMC Sierra. Is this normal?

Yep,most GM trucks run about 20PSI at operating temps. My 8.1 runs at 20,both my brothers 5.3s run the same. Even my Wifes 4.3 runs at 20PSI.

You should be fine. What is the hot pressure at speed, say 2000 rpm?

My 2003 5.3 drops to just below 40 at idle when fully warmed up. This is with M1 5w30 and GC both.

Perfectly fine. As long as you have 10psi per 1K rpms you are fine. It's when your oil pressure begins dropping below 10 psi at idle is when you need to start worrying.
