Hey Guys,

I wonder if there is any need for oil pressure gauge in Mazda 3 ?
I'm thinking about installing one ... I see a lot post .. where people are seeing different pressure with different filters ? ADVB valves ?

Is there any cheap kit available ? how hard is installation ?

Can Oil Press. Gauge tell if there is ADVB valve leaking or not working correctly ... I have this paranoia lol ..

Cheers,
Ndx

I bought mine from Princess Auto, it's an electronic one that is good up to 100 PSI. It works great. You can learn a lot with a gauge and it's easy to install.

I took out the idiot light "Low Oil" sensor and left the wire disconnected. I put the new sending unit in its place and ran the wires to the gauge.

One wire goes from the sending unit into the car, and the rest of the connections are done inside the car. 12V Constant & Switched Accessory.

They are like $25 at P.A. on Barton and they have a few to choose from. Don't get the cheapie with the nylon tube...

+ Sending Unit / Sensor ? right ?

Kris, that's the one I have...

OVERK1LL, The Autometers are too expensive and he isn't using it for a racing application.

Kris, The one from P.A. will fit your stock idiot light sensor. (Same threads)

But this thing does not come with Sending Unit ? Its just the gauge and I need sending unit as a separate thing right ?

Ive got an Autometer oil, trans temp and volt gauges in my Tacoma. I dont know why manufactures dont install these type of gauges. Actually seeing a needle climbing is better than seeing some stupid light comming on.

I own a pile of Autometer gauges. Compared to what you spend on an oil change, an Autometer gauge is a pittance.........

They used to but I think it was "too complicated" for people... Too many things to worry about and Manufacturers don't like educated consumers... They like people that come back to the dealer for things. Also it's excess cost and weight on the vehicle.

My '89 Cabriolet has: Oil Pressure, Volt Meter, Oil Temperature, & Tachometer.

Sorry forgot to answer this earlier... I sent the sample to Terry and I show it clearing US customs then the trail goes cold. It has been 3 weeks and it still hasn't arrived at the lab Terry uses. I think it got lost.

Will keep you posted.

As it was explained to me, too many people were bringing cars in to the dealer because of oil pressure concerns. They didnt know that it changed with RPM.

Ndx, make sure you get one that matches the thread size of the oem pressure sensor, if that is where your planning to get a reading from.

Not sure what the thread size is off the top of my head. Maybe do a search over on Mazda3forums.

The Autometer gauges, as well as I assume many others come with a variety of fittings in the package.
