If the top of the oil pool doesn't come in contact with the crankshaft counterweights, there's
no harm done and it makes no difference. The question is, how much extra oil does it take
to raise that pool line enough to make contact? I'd say it takes more than one extra quart.
This is also what I was thinking, since when running (and then turned off to measure, but full hot,) the mark was at the top of the crosshairs.
Needless to say.. I drained a little more than a quart, maybe a little less than a quart and a half, and now the mar is to the top COLD.
