I drive a 2001 oldsmobile aurora with the 4.0 V8 engine. I understand that its a smaller version of the northstar engine.
I dont drive the car hard but i do like to get on it once in a while. It has 81,000 miles and in excellent shape. It calls for 5W30 oil in it and i change oil and filter every 3,000 miles . What is your recommondation on what oil i should use.
Thanks mikus49

I used to have a Oldsmobile Intrigue with the 3.5 , I think ,it a V6 and a 2000, anyway it was called the short star, because it was also linked to the family of Northstars. I used 5w30(which it was speced for) and it used oil, about a 1/2 qt in 3000 miles. Not much but it annoyed me and I switched to 10w30 and its oil use became almost non exsistant. It didnt hardly move between changes. That was when I lived in PA, so it saw alot of winter use. Id go with 10w30 and Iam partial to Purolator filters, but Napa's are fine too.
