Oil for generator?

Does the alignment of planets and stars come into play somewhere in your procedure? If not, you're missing out on a whole world of minutia.....

Got to have some galactic mysticism and/or fairy dust/snake oil components to meet the expectation of the anally supreme who peruse this forum!

I put a quart and a half of 10w30 vr1 in the crankcase but it needs more. I had the vr1 on hand so i used that. All i have left is delvac 1300 15w40. I am just going to add a half a quart of that to the crankcase and another quart or so to the oil container. After i break it in i will run either a 0w40, 0w30, 5w30 or 10w30. Should i be concerned in looking for an oil with a high level of zinc and phosphorus because this engine i assume has flat tappet cam setup.

Also when i drained out the oil from the crankcase 2 quarts came out. the engine has no dipstick so i am not sure how much oil to put in the crankcase. There is no dipstick just a tube that goes into the motor with a hose that goes from the oil container to the tube that goes into the engine. I believe engine vacuum pulls oil into the engine from the oil tank. I tried looking online to find out how much oil to add to the crankcase but could not find any info.

I found this page which suggests that the engine takes 52 ounces. http://www.manddsmallengine.com/tecumseh/info/oil-chart.html. then engine is a oh180.

I have an HF Chicago brand generator. After break-in, I've kept HDEO 5W-40 in it. Starts in one or two pulls, and I have confidence that it can run for as long as necessary all year around. Here in Delaware, we have 4 seasons, and you may need your generator at 0 or 95 deg. F, so I recommend the widest viscosity spread to make starting in cold easier, and running in hot weather less of an issue.
