I didn't want to interrupt anyone thread so would ask this question. With an engine fitted with a bypass filter, would you get the oil for the used oil analysis before the bypass filter, or after. Example: I am planning to send the oil from the bypass filter to the oil fill cap, and could easily get a sample from there for analysis. Or if I need to get it somewhere before the bypass, I can put in a provision to collect a small sample "in-line" if needed.

I dont think it makes a whole lot of difference but my preference would be before the filter.
maybe at the end of season you might try both one time to see
how much difference there is..
if not much just sample at the easiest place.

I don't think that it will alter used oil analysis. It may, somewhat, alter PC ...though I don't think much.

I have always done mine by going from the oil cap.. Just makes it a heck of a lot easier to get the oil.

I don't know how it would make a big difference really.. Maybe Terry or someone with great experience will jump in. I've always felt that it reduces the chance of contamination.
