There are a bunch of posts in regards to the GM Atlas/Vortec inline 4, 5 and 6cyl engines. I also owned a 2005 Trailblazer LS 4x4. The Atlas engines are all basically the same with a different number of cylinders. Like said, they all have an over-sized sump and tend to be 'easy' on oil. Unless you planned on following the oil life monitor dash light which tends to go 10Kmi or beyond, there's no value in running 7qts of expensive synthetic oil for short durations (3-7Kmi) for your average owner. They're a good truck for the money. Excellent ride, handling and great power. Search Atlas/Vortec for some quirks and maintenance items you'll want to address. Same goes for 4L60E for your transmission.
