Built a ford 410 windsor stroker for my 1969 mach1 ,billet roller cam,.0027-.0029 clearance mains(3.0" mains),.0021-.0022 rods(2.1 rod journal).Engine builder says to use 10w30 for break in-flush,
2 quick oil and filter(w/magnet)changes about a hour each. Then run what ever 10w30 oil I want.

Was wondering if m1 0w40 would be a good choice in place of a 10w30? Never see winter, temps would be lows 40s in spring-fall and highs 90s mid summer. If m1 0w40 isn't a good choice will probably stick with brad penn grade1 semi-synth 10w30. I keep a stash of m1 0w40 for my polaris atv so it would be convenient.Any suggestions?

M1 0w-40 is an excellent choice for this engine and is my go-to oil for any Windsor.

Stock volume oil pump?

Standard volume melling m83.Just looked at the build sheet, main bearing clearance is actually .0026-.0028.Rods are .0021-.0022.
Looking for the best oil that will probably get changed every spring.
Not worried about the $$$,just the best oil for my $9,000.00 engine. This is a street car,may see the drag strip for giggles 1 or 2 times.
If 10w30 what's considered top of the line? Brad Penn,Redline,Ams,Gibbs?

Use M1 0w-40 with confidence. IMHO, it is the best oil you could be putting in it

AMSOIL 10W30 would be your best bet, pound for pound, dollar for dollar. Nice clearances and what sounds like a solid build. Congrats!

Keep in mind that oil is a coolant as well as a lubricant. For the tight tolerances on the mains and rod bearings, I would stay with a 10w-30 oil and no higher. You want oil flowing across the bearing surfaces in order to keep the temps. down. A 40 wt. oil will not flow as well. FWIW--Oldtommy

Negative, Rotella T5 10w30 would be his best bet for a 10w30.

Being a slightly lighter 40w makes this even better. Seems almost custom made for this app and is my go-to oil if I'm not running Amsoil Dominator in my little Chevy stroker.

Rotella t 10w30 conventional is what bought for the first 2 quick oil changes. Wonder how t5 stacks up against the big dollar oils(gibbs, penn, redline)? Jugs (T5) R reasonable at wally world.
A 1 time a year change ,I guess I'm willing to pay extra for the top lube. Probably a waiste, but I get that warm fuzzy feeling having the best.
548 hp and 534 tq should be fun! Maybe I should save some money on oil and keep it for extra tires LOL!
