I found I was out of (or cannot find) oil filters for my wife's Crosstrek. A look on Amazon showed many brands I have never heard of. At least if you buy a SuperTech filter at Walmart you have someone to go back to if there is a problem. Who would you go to for one of these Chinese brands no one has heard of?

I found 6 Baldwin filters for a decent price and ordered them.

Another great option ⬆️
Agree, but only the 6 pack on this link. All the other options overpriced. The 6-pack is around $8 each, which is reasonable for a good OEM filter.

Peronally, I would get a case of PG XL's or Pentius XL's for around $4-$5 each......but some prefer the OEM's. I have several myself.

Good choice hope the Baldwins work well and are still made in USA, probably are if people keep buying them and not buying PGI.

Amazon kind of has sucked the last couple of years overall for finding bulk filters in quantity at a decent price. I am talking about on a running average and not some 2 hour window were the pricing algorithm glitches and then changes back.

I have had better luck on Ebay buying Premium Guard made private label filters in quantity, than Amazon and even beating out RockAuto most times.

TheDonald, Curious what is the Baldwin part number and where did you find them?
I plan to use the Roki, but I like having an alternate part no. in my back pocket.
Thank you.

Found this at the Parker Hannafin lookup. Looks a bit Jobber. Wonder if its short on media area <100sqin ?

I have a sinking feeling we did this exercise 2 weeks ago with someone else ...

I am hoping given Baldwin has a good reputation for truck type filters that these will be high quality also.

Does Baldwin have more than one lever of filter brand. Good, better, best?

My prior filter stash was NAPA Platinum I got on sale about 4 maybe 5 years ago. I think the Subaru was $5 and the PSD was $8. Have not seen that good of a sale since. I think there may have been errors in the sale pricing.

I have not seen Baldwin with any type of premium line. What I have seen though with Baldwin is that they will make a filter for an application with a tighter spec that other filter makers would just reference a standard filter because it is close enough.

An example would be that most Ford application that use the Motorcraft FL-910S, many filter makers would just recommend their PH3614 compatible filter. Baldwin actually makes and recommends for Ford applications with the FL-910S, their B7491 oil filter that has better filter efficiency media and a silicone ADBV. Baldwins lesser equivalent they would recommend for other applications in the same size would be the B1405 with less efficient media and a nitrile ADBV.

So Baldwin does react to an actual technical market need if the application requires it. They just don't do the "Good, Better & Best" separate lines like other direct consumer brands since they are mainly a industrial/commercial supply marketed brand.

Ecogard S4615 (the green can), the premium extended life filter
Ecogard X4615, the cheaper blue can, should be good for an OE OCI
Don't buy it now. Wait until it's on sale.

Baldwin B7318 (see this page)
Fram HP17 (same size as the 7317 but has a higher bypass)

Autozone's STP S4615XL is probably the same as the Ecogard green can

Napa might have the Full 2-OSB005 or can order it
