Where can you find the specifications for oil filters? When I purchased an oil filter for my 2003 Vibe GT (2ZZ-GE) the AC Delco book listed two different filters for my specific application, but it did not list the difference between the two.

I have visited a few Toyota parts sites and they list two filters for the Vibe/Matrix. One is for the base engine the 1ZZ-GE which is Toyota part YZZA2, and the other is for my engine the 2ZZ-GE which is part YZZA1.

It bothers me that the AC Delco book listed both filters for my application while the store only carried one. Toyota obviously has a different filter specifically for my engine. I'm sure that they both fit but I want to use the best one for my engine. I think I am going to order a case of Toyota filters from a discount parts store but I just want to understand the difference between the filters.

Note - The Mobil 1 filter book only listed one filter for both engines.

Thanks,
Jason

Someone else here may dissagree but I don't see the downside in using the reccomended filter available from the Toyota dealer. The ones I've seen have looked to be high quality.

I plan on using the Toyota filters going forward. I am going to buy them by the case and save a few bucks. I was just curious as to what the difference was between the two filters listed in the AC Delco book at the local auto parts store.

I think the only difference between the A1 and the A2 is that one of them is a little longer than the other. I think it's the A1 that's bigger. If you have the extra room, you'd obviously be better off using the one that's bigger. I don't know much about the cross reference numbers to other filter brands.

I do, however, generally like the Toyota filters. Their filtering media is unlike any other filter that I know of. The media is not folded paper, it's more like a porous clay-like substance kinda like the green stuff florists use to make flower arrangements with. I plan to cut one (the A1 I think) open that's currently on my Camry that I'm running Auto-RX through.

I do have the room, as the filter mounts vertical with nothing below.

Does anyone know where I can find the specifications for these filters? Size, by-pass pressure, etc?

Thanks,
Jason
