Oil filter for turbo engines?

Im running the MSL micro guard select myself

my oem toyota filter had elongated holes at the top verses round, the MSL select had the same elongated holes, attention to detail dont know, but the micro select, also fits my filter wrench better than the oem.

I am OK running a Fram Orange, Purolator Red, CarQuest Red, in a turbo because I don't run turbo oil more than 5000 miles anyway (and I'm thinking of going to 4000 mile oil changes).

Take this for what you will: In 2009 I did the first oil change on my new Kia Forte and immediately started having valve train noise. The colder it was, the louder it was. It was obvious enough that I took it in to have it looked at. They pointed at the Wix filter I put on it. I went home and switched it over to a Hyundai filter and the noise disappeared.

Some aftermarket filters are too restrictive for some engines. Keep your ears open for strange noises. If you go aftermarket, it could affect your warranty.
That is no longer the case, as my Hyundai has not had a single OEM oil filter on it since the first dump at 600-800 miles. It now has 72,000 miles.

Apparently O'Reilly has a deal for 5qt Restore and Protect + Microguard Select filter for $38 or 39 at the moment. Was planning on switching to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (from Mobil 1), but might consider Valvoline Restore and Protect. Vehicle is a 2014 Malibu with a 2.0 Turbo, but only 83k miles. I don't think it's a very dirty engine, but everyone is touting Valvoline Restore and Protect.

2025 4runner with 4cyl turbo has a positive displacement vane type pump, and you're worried about the oil filter being too restrictive?

I just can't......sigh...
