Too All of you Canucks out their.. Anyone in the Toronto area knows of a place that carries an Oil filter cutter/opener at a reasonable cost ($30.00)..

For the life of me, I can not find any local place that carries them.. I have seen one listing on ebay from a US location, but they still want like if I recall correctly, $65.00 for the can opener..

Thanks guys

Amazon has Summitracing.com's on their site. It's $36.95 ...but they, IIRC, have a $9.95 handling fee.

How about buying a rotary tool? That way you can cut your filters open with it and have it for other uses. Canadian tire has their house brand on sale every month or two. I got mine for $9.95 with a good accessory kit. No problem cutting open filters with it.

I use a $16.00 wheel-type Pipe cutter (No 3) from my local "All China" tool store. Mine is cast iron and weighs a couple of pounds.

Cuts very neatly once broken in. When brand new wheel has paint on it and needs to be worn off. Takes a little practice so start with a few cheapies you don't care about and work your way up to the K&N,M1 centerfold shots.

Great tip. I have one of those down the street from my work that I try to avoid. But for this, should work great.
