You'll be sorry as #@$%! That other one is not spring loaded and you have to use both hands while using it. It's inferior compared to the Lisle.

Just get the Lisle and quit torturing me with these notions of buying an inferior made product.

I just called Lisle at 712-542-5101 and spoke with a nice lady. The local place for me to buy their products is Carquest. She said they package the Lisle products for them so it will look like a Carquest product, but Carquest uses the same part number. If they don't have it, they will order it for you.

Good info. Come to think of it, I have seen Lisle products at Sears and at Pep Boys too. I think the retail price on it is higher though, like $12 IIRC. SK makes one of the "spider" looking one too but they are probably more expensive.

According to Auto-Barn's website, they're $13.95 at their store. I paid $8.99+6.25 shipping, so I came out about even, and I don't have to make a special trip there

coincidentally enough, it's being shipped from Auto-Barn.

Nope. However, I think many people overtighten their oil filters as it is. 3/4 turn after seal contact is all you need.

I picked mine up last Friday at Carquest. It says made by Lisle Corp on the back. It was $10.95 + 8% = $11.83.

I had one and frankly never used but once. My brother is a tool dealer and I got the 2 filter wrench set by Channel Lock from him. My Cavalier's filter is a pain being on the back of the sewing machine engine and the cap wrench Barely fit back there. After the messing around with it I found it fit the trash bin rather well.

I liked the strap wrenches when I had a ford, but they slipped off easily on the two Chevys I have now.

There's only one hard & fast rule here: if you change your oil long enough, with enough different cars, you WILL own an assortment of different OF wrenches...think I have 4. In my experience, though, the "cup" type are the least serviceable. The "chain" or "band" type wrenches are best, but you got to have room to swing 'em. That "spider" type wrench looks cool, but a little flimsy. Unless someone else has locked down the filter with a torque wrench, you ought to be OK. 90 ft-lbs. is a LOT.
