Here's my "personal" list of oil filters that I like for my 2007 Infiniti M35. These also fit many Nissan 4 cyl and V-6 engines. Please don't be offended if I omitted your personal favorite(s) or the equivalent synthetic media types.

Baldwin B1400
Beck Arnley 041-8136
Bosch 3300
Carquest 85365
Denso 150-1008
Hastings LF113
Hengst H97W06
Mahle OC711
Mann ML1014
Motorcraft FL-816
Purolator Pure One PL14612
Union Sangyo C-218
Wix 51358

You know what's silly about Nissan/Infiniti, that many/most spec the thimble/shorty 14612/6607 size when I'd be willing to bet that most if not all will fit the longer 14610/7317 size. When my son had his G37S I encouraged him to use the longer filter and it fit fine. I was and am aware of the filter warranty but considered it to be a very minor consideration.

Ironically many quick lube and jobber filters downsize and consolidate the 14610 applications to the 14612 size.

Took apart several oil filters of that popular 14610/7317 size about 10 years ago. Don't let the small size of the can fool you. The Nissan oil filters had the smallest can, but the filtering surface area was almost twice as much as the cheapest Walmart SuperTech equivalent.

After tearing apart nearly 6 of them, my conclusion was to buy Nissan or the higher priced Purolator Premium+ or Fram Tough Guards. However, that was 10 years ago, specifications change especially in the cheapest models.

It would be interesting to compare those same filters with the ones of today to see if the designers/manufacturers are cutting back on media area.

My son in law used Mobil 1 filters in their Full size Infinity SUV along with Mobil 1 5w30. However the filter you use is far less important than the oil.

I've only used P1 filters in the year-and-a-half I've had my I35 and I'm a fan. Good quality, good price with AAP coupon codes and made right here in America.

I will probably try out Wix/Napa Gold and the new Nissan filters (supposedly better constructed now) next.

"Like father like son in law", did he have any choice?

. Just kidding, both Mobil 1 oil filters and oil are real good. I use them myself, though not every OCI/FCI.

What's the point to this thread?

Apparently to show a comprehensive list of all available oil filers for Infinitis and Nissans.

The point of the thread was to offer a filter list to save readers' time in researching and cross referencing and to elicit opinions on the brands listed. Not intended to be "statistical" or scientific.

I oversize on occasion, usually when the regular filter is out of stock, which happens more than I'd expect. Oddly enough, the oversized versions are cheaper, both for the Wix and the Hastings. It bugs me most of all for the Wix, where the currently specified 51358 has a nitrile ADBV and the older specified 51365 and longer 51356 have silicone, and are cheaper, with the 51356 being cheapest of all. I have no problem with nitrile, really, but why am I paying more for it?

And yes, there is plenty of space.
