Is there an oil extractor on the market that someone would recommend? I want to pull a sample of my green GC for a used oil analysis at 3,200 miles (prior issues with lead levels in an '01 VQ30DE).

I don't want to wait until 6k on the oil (I'm averaging 700 miles per month), nor do I want to change it out completely at this mileage.

Yep, right here...

I have a Pela 6000 and it works great!

Does it leave oil behind that would have otherwise drained out.

It would be great for a boat.

Depends on the engine and the design of the oil pan. In general most report it seems to get most, if not all, the oil if used properly. I use mine to extract ATF from an auto transmission rather than dropping the pan. I haven't used it to extract engine oil since I have to get under both my cars to change the filter anyway. So I just pull the drain plug.

Axe Man,

No issues with getting the tube to the oil pan, i.e., curved dipstick?

Do you use it for sampling or complete oil changes?

See my prior response. As I stated I use it to change the ATF in a Ford Taurus. It is a little difficult getting the tube of the extractor down a curved dipstick. Persistence and careful prodding pays off here.

where to buy one and how much?

I can't post any direct links because they are not site sponsors. If you do a google search on "Pela extractors" you'll get dealers who sell them. Or you may PM me and I'll tell you specifically where I purchased mine.

It appears that several responders saw "oil extractor" and failed to notice that you only want to pull a sample.

Here's one for $22 (click on the camera symbol for a picture).

Amsoil sells one for $27.25, or less if you are an Amsoil dealer. (It doesn't cost much to become a dealer.)

blackstone labs has a used oil analysis sample extractor for $25 from their site.
