My Dixon lawn mower with a Briggs 10HP has an oil drain valve with a nipple for a drain hose. I have had this mower for 8 years since new. No matter how I do it the valve in the nipple part is always plugged up by Muddaubers. Then I have to work on it for quite a while to unplug it to change the oil.

Last year after I did this and drained the oil, I put a foam ear plug in the drain valve nipple. It is the small foam that you roll in your fingers to make it smaller and when inserted it expands and form fits. I just changed the oil on the mower, and the drain hole was clean for once. Then when done, I just re-inserted the foam ear plug back in. I just finished putting one in the Fumoto Drain with the nipple on my Honda pressure washer.

Just a hint if you have this problem. Cheap and works. Also it keeps the nipple clean internally if you decide to take a used oil analysis. I know run some oil out first, which I do, but this keeps it pristine inside the drain nipple.

Maybe a MotorGuard on my John Deere is the next project. The other 2 are splash systems.
