Oil cross contamination?

Bought this transfer pump from HF today using a coupon from the paper. I've seen it used in a few You Tube vids so we shall see how nice it really is. Can't beat the price IMO.

My main concern is about fluid contamination. Can it be used for extracting and installing various fluids like PS, ATF, diff fluid etc. without having negative effects. Like say using it for draining and installing diff fluid then adding ATF to a transfer case. Maybe run a few squirts of fluid through before adding it to help clean out the other fluid?

I think you would want to run a cleaner going from dirty extraction to clean filling. Looks up mity vac cleaning and see what they're using. Isopropyl alcohol maybe?

Also I have the same pump though I ONLY use it for atf extraction, so I thought i would warn you to not strong arm the little black disc that moves the shaft, mine snapped off by trying to pump too fast. You probably want to use steady push and pulls no snappy jerking fast pump motions.

I would use one for extraction and another for dispensing new fluid.

Your extraction pump should be cleaned w/ brake cleaner after you done with one type of fluid. If you are extracting and pumping in new differential oil, that pump should then be restricted to differential duty only forever. You never want any differential oil (GL-5) to get into your engine or auto transmission. Different pumps for different types of fluid is what I do and I second the others who already recommended this practice.
