Oil choice for track days

Hey fellas,

I currently own 2007 Suzuki SV650 track bike (bought in July) and 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT that I bought brand new back in 2020, and started to take both of them to track this year. I've had 5 track days under my belt so far.

I'm currently mid-pack A group with the SV, and usually take the Tracer for morning sessions (when it's colder), or last sessions, or sometimes troll newbies with big ego. I usually go for the B group if I'm taking the Tracer as I do not want to cause traffic in advanced group.

I've been using Liqui Moly 4T 10w40 on both bikes, not sure if it's good enough for track, price is good though for full synthetic oil. Should I switch to something more robust or continue as is?

Also, how often would you recommend changing it, regardless of the mileage? Every 4-5 track days?

I will eventually sell the Tracer as I rarely ride on the road and have access to manufacturers' media fleets as a reviewer to ride on the road, but will continue to take it to track until it's sold. Hoping to get a GSX-R 750 or something like Daytona 675 once it's sold and have two track-only bikes. Planning to keep the SV as a spare bike or for smaller tracks.

Here are some pictures from this season:

Let me know your thoughts - thanks in advance!

You'd be fine with off the shelf 20w-50. Mobil 1 is popular. Being in canada i'm not sure what's available at canadian tire or walmart.

When racing, I'd change the oil and brake fluid before every race. Trackdays are a bit more relaxed, so I'd go longer, depending on how the bike ran and shifted, and how the brakes felt. On the track, I usually ended up changing the brake fluid more frequently, to keep them performing at their best.

On the street, I go generally the suggested OCI, or once per year. If the shifting starts to deteriorate, I'd change it sooner, but it never has with the Motul 300V 4T. Brake fluid gets changed at least once per year, or sooner if they start feeling less then 100%.

I think you are on the right track lol. We use VR 1 20 50 synthetic. In the race harley engines. Friends of mine that race the BMW one thousand rr. Use the motul 300v ester oil exclusively. I purchase it for them because I have a wholesale account.

On my older CBR-600, I ran Rotella T4, and would do 3-4 track days on it before changing. Ran the bike on average 6 TD's a year, in A group. On my current R6, I run Mobil 1 20w50 racing oil. The R6 has a full KWS build, so it's making a good bit more steam than the CBR, so I run a better oil in it. Still change every 3 days. Factory oil filters for both.

My track bike is a modified to super stock tune (212rwhp) BMW S1000RR. The wife rides a lightly modded with an ecu flash, and Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system S1000RR M.

You're the real deal .Very nice. Love to watch you guys. How about post a couple picks.

One of the best perks about motul is the boys save they used oil from track days. They put it in their 02 super duty 7.3 trailer towing machine.

I'm just a guy with a passion for motorcycles, and the wife is the same. We've both been riding since the age of 6. The roadracing I've talked a bit about in the past, until those who have to question the sanity and 'selfishness' of doing so, especially if you have kids..., rears it's ugly head. So I'm not too motivated to post those kinds of pics, only to have them deleted when the thread goes south.

The racing I've done is mostly just regional racing series, with some AMA (now Moto America) races thrown in. It gave me a racing resume sufficient to allow to compete in some bucket list racing events. But now I'm just a middle-aged guy trying to keep my skills from deteriorating too fast.
