Oil change, Time vs. Mileage

23 miles? That means when you changed the oil the last time, the car sat for 8 months and then they drove to your shop to get an oil change. Am I getting this right?
That oil is super clean.
If this was me, I would do option B
A) Do an oil change oil If the the car was driven 3K or less miles in a year
B) Do an oil change if the car was not driven in 5 years or so,

This is BITOG. I would bet this has happened at least once, if not more times than any of us could imagine.
AND, if the car was under warranty with a powertrain warranty that REQUIRED this interval of time, then I can see this happening.
Proof that the change was done, regardless of the mileage.
Why fight the dealership over a potential engine issue related to oil (Hyundai, Kia, etc), when you can have proof it was done.
I have a vehicle with a lifetime powertrain warranty, and the dealership tried to void the warranty by demanding I show oil change receipts. I had them look through their records (all done on time and under the correct mileage interval) - then they got quiet and went ahead with the work.
Anyway, funny meme but relevant in some cases.

My aunt (near 80) gifted my son the 2012 2.5 RAV4 in my sig with just under 50k miles on it. She bought it new and gave it to us in 2022 IIRC. With her driving patterns its reasonable to say she averaged a little over 4k a year. She will not let it go for a yearly OCI. She now has a Lexus with the same driving pattern(s) and same 6 month OCI!
I go strictly by miles.
I guess if nothing else, it keeps her in that dealers good books, if anything comes up out of warranty where the dealer can spend their "goodwill" warranty repair quota on it, they probably would help her out.
