The issue you can run into is the service adviser looking at you like your odd, why do you wanna to do that for, they wont back their work when you supply them the oil and filter and some wont cut the price any.
Pep Boys and Walmart will use any oil and filter they sell that's on the stores shelf I would assume. Keep in mind what they pay for bulk oil and jobber oil filters is much less than the oil & filters they stock in the auto section.
So expect an up charge. Jiffy Lube would be the last place I'd try to do this.
Also, some garages don't wanna tie-up a bay for a cheap oil change when the bay can be bringing in $75+ per hour doing something else. And most that do don't wanna work on a newer vehicle that know they wont find any work on
like brakes.. .

I worked at a tire/ parts store and we did bottled oil changes at a reasonable price, using oil from our own store, obviously. We had a huge window so the customers could watch us like we were in a fish bowl and the system worked fine.
We had an idiot show up with a mitsubishi with the dodge neon 2.0 motor, and a wix filter with 20mm threads intended for the other mitsu motor that he got from NAPA because he "knows better". We put a PH16 with 3/4 threads on instead and he shrugged it off. 20mm is just big enough to thread/jam on then blow off later, so I'm glad my BITOG nerdery kicked in that day.

IN small towns, I use to pay 10 bucks, Cookeville tn..those days are gone in big cities...

*Good base starting point to try ... '02 Trail Blazer uses 7 qrts. of oil and I like using Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 + Fram Ultra oil filter for a one year OCI . A lesser synthetic oil + jobber oil filter offered by Jiffy Lube or comparable is well over 100$ - thus why I want to use my own materials .

Small local chain called Snappy Lube charges $20. Have used them long enuf to know they are trustworthy.
I paid $15 to a local shop I trust to change the oil on a Saturn SL1 several times from 2012 to 2016. (I had a heckuva time reaching the filter when I tried it myself. Folks on Saturn forums either sympathize or shrug in confusion. Maybe it's cuz I am left-handed.) If you call around you will likely find a place that will do this for $20 or less. As always, it's a matter of how much you trust them and how well and quickly they can perform the service. What you do not get in this case is the free fluid top-offs that quick lube places provide. But you also don't get the lame upsell offers like fuel system cleaning, etc.

My mechanic charges $10 if it's just an oil change if I bring my own and for a full service he charges $20 if I bring my own or $32 if I use his bulk valvoline but he use to use the car quest blue filters but I haven't used his filters in a long time so not sure what he uses since car quest closed down.

I thought about it years ago. I wanted to use Mobil 1 and specific filters. The one place I asked was at a Montgomery Wards auto service center. I was told $11. This was at a time when few places would use an oil like I was planning.
If I don't do the oil change myself, the indy charges $20 if I bring the oil and filter, that also includes a tire rotation. They also fill up the windshield washer fluid and this particular car holds 6 quart so it's actually a decent amount if it's low.
I charge $33 and an extra $22 for a tire rotation. And I am thinking about raising it.

In South Florida the lube shops will charge you for their oil even if you bring them your oil. The independents will not charge you for the oil if you bring your own. I buy the Mobil 1 and filter and let the independent change it. In and out in 20 minutes or less.

I don't understand why people want to do this. Dealer change is $25 for synthetic blend. Local mechanic $40 coupon in mailings every couple of months for full synthetic Pennzoil Platinum. I've seen similar in all locations I've lived in the last 15 years. I can't imagine it's going to be much cheaper than that. And they all use oil that's going to work just fine in any car.

Well, my parking area is NOT flat so I don't risk it. My friend who works at Monroe place near me charged me $9 to use my oil I brought and a Bosch D+ filter. For $9 I could care less about risking my safety changing my own oil.
