My daughter just got an '06 Acura RSX. It's the base model. It's got 57K miles on it. I would classify her driving habits/mileage/usage as normal, not severe. She'll use it probably 50/50 city/highway. The manual calls for 10K mile interval oil change with dino for normal driving. I'm thinking that is a little long for dino. I see that AAP has Castrol Edge with Syntec and a Bosch Distance+ filter for $24.99. I'm thinking this would be a good choice. How about you guys? Can the Edge w/Syntec handle a 10K mile interval? I looked in the fill hole and it looks very clean. It calls for 5w20.

Castrol Edge with Syntec and Bosch Distance Plus oil filter is more than good for 10k OCI in a Honda engine.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it has the lower HP version of the K20. I figured since it's a Honda, it would be easy on oil. I have a Civic with the 1.8L engine and everyone says it's easy on oil.

If one of you will be watching the level on the dipstick go ahead and run 10k. If not, knock down the interval to 5k/6 months. $50 a year is a drop in the bucket compared to fuel costs.

I'll be watching the oil and so will my daughter. The left headlight is burned out and needs replacing. My daughter says she wants to help with that, so getting her to regularly check the oil shouldn't be a problem. 0w20, now that's an idea. When I go to the store, I'll have to see if they have any. Thanks guys.
