oil blend

How about this blend? 3 qts. Havoline synthectic and two qts Havoline dino, both 5w30, with a half bottle slob. I,m sold on the moly in the dino, but want the extras from the syn, The slob just takes it all back to the zinc levels of SL oils. Any advice is welcome.

I got that same combo of Havoline oils in my wife's car.

But i'm using a 50/50 of SL rated Havoline Synthetic and SM rated 5w20 Havoline dino.

It is the old discontinued Havoline that had mega moly.
That's why I stopped using it, although it still is a great oil.

Half bottle SLOB is just right if you want SL zddp levels. I run half a bottle in SL, but a whole bottle in SM.

Only a small mamount of zinc is actually needed, extra zinc is not needed or even used by the engine...

Interesting blend...and one that I would try myself if I could actually find Hav.Syn in my area.

Maxlife 5w30 conventional w/4-6oz VSOT is my staple, but once in a while I'll sub with a quart or two Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic.

I will agree on a "moderate" amount of additive,depending on your application.I've been drag racing for a long time,and GM eos,and VSOT have always proved invaluable in an 8000rpm motor!!
However,in a daily driver I'm not sure of the benefits.
