Oil Analysis Not Scientific?

I just wanted to add that the field testing is so important that Automotive companys still do it before going into production for 99% of their vechiles. Their are some exception but not many. The companys that field test the most tend to have the fewest recalls, mid-production redsigns and TSB's. Their is one trend right know and that is towards less field testing and more computer based testing. I have seen this testing fail time and time again because all variable are being controlled and not every variable is forseeable or factored in. Manufactures are also useing larger test fleets and putting fewer miles on each vechile. This has caused some durability issues to be overlooked. They have in essence turned the customer into the final durability tester. So I belive more in field testing then controlled studies.
