Just changed my original air filter in my 2007 2.2 Malibu. I noticed that the OEM only had 54 pleats and the AMSOIL had 70. I thought that was a big difference.

I see that a lot of people are going to the AFE Pro Dry S filter. They are supposedly a lifetime, cleanable filter, but I'm kinda skeptical of that. Autoanything.com carries them.

I went with the AFE Dry Pro S some time age due to the fact Amsoil doesn't have an EAA for my 1993 Civic. I had a UOA with Silicon level of 3 PPM. The filter construction is first rate, I wouldn't have any reservations in recommending this air filter.

I've been thinking of ordering a EaA from Amsoil. I am indeed skeptical of extended use air filters. However, they appear to do an excellent job.
