Octane Booster?

I have a 3/4 ton truck that I have a fuel transfer tank in the back of. One boat takes 87 octane and the other takes 89 octane. How much additive would it take to boost a 40 gallon tank from 87 to 89 octane? I tend to drive my boat with twin etec's more but my sister and her kids are coming down and I let them use the other boat with a Yamaha 225 SHO on it for skiing; it needs 89 octane or higher. We don't have fuel near by so instead of trailering 10 miles to a station I just go fill up my 116 gal transfer tank.

Depends on the product and their dosing. For example if a product says "increases octane by 6 points" they mean 6/10's.

89 for both . Done.

Before you get to the lake or shore, just fill the 116 g. transfer tank with 89. ...or am I missing something?
That’s $54 a tank more where I’m at and for Etecs they say higher fuel burns cooler and causes suit deposits. But I asked about octane boosters

It's less expensive to buy the 89. Like another poster stated. 6/tenths of a point per can. at 4-8 bucks a can and you will need 6-8 cans most likely for 40 gallons.

A gallon of this would probably work for less than the small cans. $24.
