Everyone knows OCODs lead to an unhappy and inevitable end!

That IS an interesting one. In fairness to Fram, the sludged filter was caused by owner "inatttention" .

There are a lot of oil filter cut away videos on Utube and the internals so exposed tell an interesting story.

HAHAH, that was an excellent reveal as he turned the second can around.

this kinda belongs in this thread, i was wondering is their any quality difference in the orange fram and the fram filters used to quick lube places like walmart, i know the ones in the bay are less expensive

Dang. I wonder what the underneath side of his valve covers look like.

Those are the "awesome" Fram TLE filters, combining the plastic ecore inside cage with the fiber endcaps. Not sure I would use them if they were free, I have a couple Valucrafts from AZ with that design in my stash, probably going to charity (Goodwill, or a free oil change for someone).

thanks for the info, i had used the tle filters many years ago
i have more knowledge about this stuff now

Are you serious??? Do you really think this was an oil filter problem or a moron owner problem???

I think that's laughable to blame this on any oil filter, I don't care what brand it is.

What is it with people who loathe Fram???

+1. Just think what a Tearolator would look like. All the media would probably be torn off the center tube due to the high dealt-p due to all the sludge.

Z06 it's good to hear from you again. I got three days in the shade for hurting someone's feelings in the process of automotive discourse.

So for the sake of argument, if it was a purolaor, it would have had even pleatts, each covered in an equally dispersed layer of sludge. Or it would have saved the motor!

Oh and btw, I have another puro to open in about a month! Let's see if the current stock filters has any failures during a severe service interval.

Oh and I have a confession to make. Since Fram has a mail in rebate promotion going on right now, I bought two Fram ultras. One for each vehicle. We shall see if Fram passes the stringent JK filter standards....

This surprises me

... nah, just kidding. I know you know that the FRAM Ultra is a good filter, but your preferences are Purolator Synthetic and Royal Purple ... all of which are great filters.

I haven't seen all of the FRAM Ultra pics on here, but all the pics I have happened to come across have looked great ... I'm sure you will be pleased with what you see when you cut the filters open.

We shall see. I tried to stop myself, but it was hard to turn down a $6 synthetic filter. The Puro synthetic is double that and the RP is almost triple. I will give it a shot. I will now be able to say I have at least tried them. The last Fram filter I used was an OCOD about 10 years ago.

^^^ Wow, $6 for a FRAM Ultra synthetic filter is a very good deal. That would be hard to turn down, even for those who like other filters better.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Say it isn't true.

You were the one, Neo, to beat the FRAMatrix.

The Puroracle told me this personally.

Im not a Framophile, just wanted to try the darkside, to only strengthen my arguments and credibility in my quest to conquer the Frampires!

BTW, good work on the Fram word references!
