OCOD: Other Cans of Doom

I cut this Puro made collection … and the material was as easily torn as paper … you don’t have to use Fram Ultra to get something durable … even the blended brands are tough …
I even wound up (by mix up) with some unknown brand and the media was far tougher …
Not these:

From an objective point of view, it would be great so they could field questions and provide insight into why the tears happened in the first place (or at the very least acknowledge them). People cna slam FRAM, but at least their representative was active here and always answered any questions that I had regarding their products. MH/Purolator never made any comments about the tears, in this forum or anywhere else that I have seen despite enough occurrences to indicate there was some sort of issue. No matter, there are plenty of other filters on the market from which to choose.

Back when the reports of torn Purolators were fast and furious, a few members actually emailed Purolator and got replies. But Purolator never sent someone here to sign-up and participate in the forums - jk_636 didn't quite qualify, or he wanted too much compensation -

I think Purolator's excuse/response to those who emailed was that the tearing was caused by people buying/hording filters and using their old stock (which wasn't a true case). Pretty lame support from Purolator when their product was falling off a cliff around here. Of course, they probably know the BITOG community is just a small sliver of consumers, and they know 99+% of people using thier filters never cut them open and never look at a chat board forum talking about oil filters all day long. Reports were also coming in that people posting torn media complaints on their Purolator's Facebook page had those comments removed - go figure.

I had a torn Motorcraft FL820S. I reported the problem to Ford and since I did not want to do diagnostics on the truck, they closed the ticket without comment. I have since run: Standard WIX, Champ Labs eCore, AC Delco eCore, STP eCore, NAPA Gold, Fram Extra Guard and Fram Tough Guard all without issues. IMO it is not worth the effort to qualify the most recent Purolator offerings. We still see Purolator issues popping up.
