OCI Time Limit On Short Tripper ?

for me 3 months winter , 5 months in the summer. I'd use a conventional oil.
You are in GA so maybe the winter stress isn't all that bad.
Up here, short commute/long idling/cold temps creates a disaster in the crankcase.
I use a 3mo/4mo/5mo regimen on a family F150 that goes 4 miles twice a day. Dino. The winter 3mo comes out horrible, the spring 4month and the summer/fall 5 month are just fine.

Do you recommend the same time interval for synthetic? Both my Audis see only about 16 mi/day on average, plus weekend trips. One car sits most of the time. The S4 has had RP in there since May/June, Im guessing you guys would say dump it and go with new stuff? Only 2k on the oil also.
Synthetic does nothing special for byproducts or water which IS in the sump.
With that said you may have a large sump which does help with those items but still I'd rather change the oil more often to get rid of the "stuff" and put in fresh additives.
Another thing to make sure you are on top of is the PCV system.

I actually find changing the oil is much more important on an infrequent driver or short tripper then it ever was on daily 20+ mile driver.
agreed, synthetic does nothing in terms of moisture build-up; no sense in paying out the butt for synthetic just to dump it every 3mnths.
Me....I'm only averaging perhaps not even 1k miles every 3 mnths prior to dumping mine; oil still looks [censored] good, I just want the moisture out.....bad thing about living in cold winter country.

I wish I had you guy's drive. I drive 60 miles to work and back, plus weekend trips. Bought my sentra new in Febuary and already have 20k on the odometer.

I live in AL and we have same winters. 6 miles a day is 180 or 200 per month or about 600 plus for 3 months. It is important for oil to get to full operating temp for at least 20-30 minutes from time to time to help burn off the water. If you don't do that burn off, an oil change at 3 months sure is cheaper than having sludge build up. Oil change specials are $20 or less. Rebuild is far more expensive
My car see's a 60 mile highway trip every day, round trip to and from work. I've got 3000 miles on my Mobil 1 and I just pulled the dipstick, looks clean and clear! This oil will easily go 7-8K OCI. I'll probably drain it first of April, which will be about 7K.

Not to derail, but my brother switched his taxi from a Town Car to a Prius. I'm not sure what his OCI or general maintenance regimen is, since I'm no longer in charge of that sort of thing, at least until something goes terribly wrong and he doesn't know what to do.

That's just my personal truck being a short tripper...only cause I have a company truck.
I average 200 miles a day on my company truck, plus or minus, in the winter time....summer can be around 250 or so.
Just put new tires on it 3 mnths ago, already have over 10k on them.
