I used the search and couldnt find anything that would really answer my question. Ford recommends shortening the OCI from 7500 to 5000 miles when running E85 more than 50% of the time. Does anyone know why this is? If it is supposed to be cleaner and burn cleaner, what affect does this have on the oil that the OCI should be shortened? Also, if I used Amsoil 0W20, would I have to shorten that OCI as well?

Ethanol creates a lot of acids during its combustion, like gifts said you burn more of it so in turn it hastens the TAN increase in the oil. I would not follow amsoil's recommendations for an extended drain unless I called and talked to them. Personally I would use a cheaper oil and change it more often.
