I bought an assortment of rubber o-rings a few years back but it is a no-name item and I am unsure of its quality. Dorman has a o-ring assortment #030-002. Does anyone know if these are of good quality for automotive use? Has anyone used them?

The asssortment that I have looks exactly like the Dorman item with its red box ( p23 of the current Dorman flyer ), so I don't want to buy the Dorman assortment unless I know that it is of good quality.
I have a couple of Dorman O-ring sets, I was lucky enough to have a Dorman dealer next to my old shop. Quality is good, I guess. Never had a failure. Be aware that there are different 0-rings to seal different materials,-Viton, Nitril, Silicone etc. As long as you match up your ring to the material to be sealed, it should be fine.
Always lube your O-rings with Dow Corning 111.

I've bought some assortments of nitrile o-rings from Harbor Freight ('cause they were cheap), but for mission critical items such as oil pump to block o-ring I buy OEM.
