Alternative power source technology has been scaled more since Magnitude 9 earthquake, infact moreso than anytime in the history of the Nipponji. Nuclear in due time will outdated technology, just like coal burning plants are. Japan will lead the world in power production within ten years time, all of it being ecologically friendly and have the lowest impact on natural resources of any power production in the worlds history. Many people do not believe us. And the reason for that is because most countries are obsessed with fossil fuels and are ignorant not wanting to advance in these areas. You have to see it work to believe it, and it is amazing!

I don't think most people do not believe in Japanese technology (on the contrary most people believe it more than other nations').

The concern people have is nuclear (at least today's nuclear) that requires active power to cool it down and stop the chain reaction if something happened. If someone come up with a core design that doesn't require active cooling in incidents (i.e. relies on doper broadening, or active neutron injection to keep the reaction going), people would not be so concerned.

Not sure you were aware, but NASA's new model dispelled the CO2 myth. CO2 has finally been linked with global cooling in the upper atmosphere. CO2 has not been shown to have any connection to warming, even in the lower atmosphere.

and NASA was the one to start the CO2 greenhouse gas myth. that should tell you how big of a deal it is.

LOL at this one....

Quote:
To those independent scientists and engineers at Principia Scientific International this is not news. The “natural thermostat” effect of CO2 has long been known by applied scientists and engineers how have exploited it's remarkable properties in the manufacturer of refrigerators and air conditioning systems. The fledgling independent science body has repeatedly shown in it's openly peer reviewed papers that atmospheric carbon dioxide does not cause global warming nor climate change.

The use of CO2 as a refrigerant gas, in a refrigerant cycle does not make it cool the planet...thanks, have made my day.

I grew up

And yes, global warming is a complete myth, just like the low-fat diet, but thats not for ths thread.

Wow, another paper from avowed climate deniers....without the integrity to point out that they have never done any peer reviewed research!
Nor to point out that the article applies to high energy particles, and is totally irrelevant to global warming, which is driven by both invisible infrared, visible light and uv spectral energy.

And of course it would be news to NASA that this is in any way related to AGW climate models.

Sadly, most will never research the issue on the NASA site, so its easy to make wild claims about what the study says.

Back to the main topic
. We need to reexamine the future of nuclear energy and the breeder reactors that may well be the wave of the future, both for safety and their ability to use up what we now consider atomic waste.

If we are seeing anything bad about burning fossil fuel for electricity, we see that in China these days.

They have to shut down a city because their city wide heating (based on coal) and power generation (also based on coal) in Harbin is generating so much smog that you cannot breath without problem on the street. Our coworkers came back from a business trip to Beijing told us that at one of their bad air day you can only see 3 blocks in the city!

With so many more of the world's population getting better living conditions, we will need more electricity, fossil fuel or not, CO2 or not. I do not see any real way out unless we build many more nuclear plants, and refreshing the designs so they are safer and more efficient in burning up the fuel (which reduces the half lives).
