I rarely notice any substantial change in engine responsiveness with the Honda, but I have recently and I'm surprised by it. I've had MC 5w20 in the Honda now for 3,000 miles. 3 full tanks ago, I used Chevron Pro Gard FI cleaner. I generally use Redline SI, but it's been about 15,000 miles or so since the last bottle.
Using a top tier gas, I would not think these products would be needed that often, if ever. I know Bill from Utah and others never have used them. I generally run Shell 87 or Sunoco gas. I can say with confidence that the Pro Gard has possibly cleaned up the injectors. I find it hard to believe they were plugged up, but being as small as a human hair I guess it wouldn't take much. Unless it's the oil or change in gas formulation, but I doubt it.
The engine is a lot more rev happy. I was going to pull the plugs out recently to check them because the car has been lagging a bit. Assuming it was the Pro Gard, the hesitation is certainly gone.
I've already used 1qt of MC 5w20 in 3,200 miles of high speed highway driving.
